You must use katpay or use exact change on board to pay your fare.

No day passes or change cards will be given for cash payments on the bus after that date. The cash price for one ride is still $1.00 for regular fare, or $.50 for discount fare. Transfers not included.

Frequent riders are encouraged to use katpay to access 1-Day and 30-Day pass rates. katpay uses fare capping and stops charging after the daily and monthly limits are reached, ensuring that you always pay the lowest fare. You will never pay more than $2 per day or $30 in a 30-day period, or for discount fare, never more than $1 per day, or $15 in a 30-day period.

katpay can be used on your phone through the Transit app OR as a reloadable card that you can get from customer service. Plus, you can pay as you go, and add funds to your account several different ways, including using cash at retail locations around Knoxville.

Key Dates to Remember:

• Dec. 2, 2024: Last day to purchase paper tickets at KAT Customer Service, 1-Day passes will still be available on buses
• Dec. 31, 2024: Last day to use paper tickets on buses
• Jan. 2, 2025: MUST USE katpay or exact change on buses. No paper tickets accepted, and no day passes or change cards given

The KTA Board as approved KAT’s request for adjustments to Routes 1, 20, 22, 23, 37, 40, and 41, as well as to make permanent the Route 42 Emergency Safety detour. These adjustments will take effect on January 27, 2025.
